Frosted Designs DT!!!

Tim Holtzified!!

Hi Guys!!

TGIF!! I hope you all are having a fabulous Friday afternoon. The weekend is here!! Whooo hoooo I have been just dieing to dive into some new Tim Holtz product that I recently bought. Just wasn't feelin' it until today. Boy, I pulled out all the stops on this card. Let me tell you how I got the effects that I wanted.

The white background was stamped in the harlequin pattern with silver metallic acrylic paint by Ranger. I made sure some of the paint was streaked on the stamp. Then I went over the paint with Perfect Pearls from Ranger in bronze. Misted the Perfect Pearls so it stuck to the paint to give it more of an antique look. I then stamped the Paris Tim Holtz stamp in black over all of that.

Next for the wings I used Grungeboard and painted it again in the Ranger metallic paints. This time I used 4 colors to give me the metal look I wanted. Copper, Gold, Black, and Espresso. Again I made sure the paint had the streak marks. I also used Grungeboard for the brackets and painted them in the silver metallic Ranger paint. The rest was just adhering it all together.

This card was made for the Fabulous Friday Challenge over at Frosted Designs. The challenge is to use metal on your project. Thanks for the inspiration Frosted Designs!! It's just what I needed to break out my new supplies and get going.

Buttons & Bows

I've been published!!!

This is so exciting!! I am so happy to be able to share with you finally... that I have been published this month in Scrapbook News & Review. http://www.scrapbooknewsandreview.com/  It is an online magazine that you have to subscribe to. I am in the Friendship category of Cards & Stamping. Whaaaaa hooooo!! I am going to print off the page and attach my card to it and have it framed for my studio!! This was a goal for me this year and I can't believe it's actually happened so soon. Thanks for letting me share!

Pretties

Hi everyone!! The color challenge this week at CR84FN is to use the colors Teal, Green, and Yellow. I normally wouldn't have thought to do these colors together... but I really like this combo. Here is what i came up with.

This was a fun challenge for me. There is no stamping on this card at all. I may or may not add a sentiment later. We'll see. Things are finally warming up around here and the massive amounts of snow seem to be melting away. I can actually see green grass in my yard! Makes me feel like Spring is on it's way.

You're my cup of...

Hello guys!!

Can you believe the school's are on a 2 hour delay due to temperatures? OMGoodness it is fa~reezing out! I just called time and temp and it's -7 with out the wind chill factored in. Burrrrrr I plan on staying inside today.

Guess what this challenge is for? It's a DT Call challenge at The Shabby Tea Room. In order to apply you must make a project based on the photo above. What a super fun picture that is! Pink, black, and polka dots? Loooove it! Here is the card I came up with.


I knew right away that I wanted to do something with the texture on the tea pot. And these rows of lace border worked out perfectly. I added pearls to dress it up a bit. I mean this is a DT Call right? ~:0) I also knew I wanted the card to be mainly pink with just an accent of the polka dots just like the picture. So I added the sweet polka dot ribbon as my accent. And of course the theme being tea and tea pots hence the stamp I used. I cut the little cup out and popped it up. This card is the perfect tea party card don't you think?

The DT Call goes until the 13th. Please wish me luck!!

B is for Baby!

Hi guys!

I have another challenge that I worked on yesterday. This one is for The Shabby Tea Room. Once I saw the picture above I knew I had to play this week. OMGoodness does this picture ever inspire me. I love everything about it. I knew I wanted to pull the green polka dots, and lace with pink border out. And that's how I started. Here is how my card ended up.

Can you believe we got another 4-5 inches of snow yesterday on top of our 28"!! Holy cow it looks like Alaska outside and feels like it too. Our temps are dropping to below 0. Burrr... I am so ready for winter to be done. How bout' you?

King of hearts

Stamptacular asks that you stamp somewhere on your card. See the row of pearls above the bow? Those are little stamped hearts. So super cute! This card is for my sons Valentine.

Art is handcrafted with {heart}

The Play Date Cafe's challenge this week is based off of the picture above. Lively rich colors are what this challenge is all about. And is that flower just not the best? I had to really scrounge around my studio to come up with the colors as my style is more the pastels. This image just spoke to me... love it! So, here is what I came up with.


The stamps and gears are Tim Holtz and the flower is prima. All new items I picked up at Michaels yesterday. ~:0) Infact I saw that flower and immediately thought of this challenge. I hope I did it justice.

Love at first sight!

Hello everyone! Welcome to the Love At First Sight Blog Hop. If you are here from Nadia's blog than you are in the right spot. For this blog hop Sandra is celebrating her anniversary of when she met her hubby 8 years ago "It was Love At Fist Sight", also her 7th wedding anniversary, and of course Valentine's Day! She has asked us all to make a Love-Themed Gift for someone that we love and share a picture of us with that person. The project I have to share with you today is a darling heart box with a matching card.

 

This project if for my hubs. It's a darling card with a cute little heart box. I'm not sure what I will put in the box at the moment. How about some little love notes? Hmmmmmm no worries I've still got a week to figure that out right?

The heart box and card were made with the new papers from Making Memories. Loooove this set! All of the pearl accents are Melissa Frances.

I'm very happy with how this set turned out. I hope I was able to inspire you just a little bit for your own Valentine projects.

This is Hubs and Me. This pic was just taken at Christmas this year. We have been married for 14 years. He is my rock and my biggest fan! I couldn't love him more if I tried!

Color Cue Challenge

I found a new challenge blog today!!
Color Cue Challenges... the colors for this weeks challenge are Aqua, Pink, White, Any Neutral. What a super yummy combo.  Here is my take on the challenge. My neutral is cream.
 

I was expecting to work on this the entire weekend, but once I got started ... it just all came together. Probably because these colors are so fun to work with. O.K. I promise last post for today!! ~:0)

I have another card to share with you. The Shabby Tea Room has a challenge this week that requires you to design a card or project using just stamping - no patterned papers - and your own, handmade embellishments.

There's a lot of handmade details on this card. The embossing, stitching, dies, and fussy cutting all enhance the beauty of this card. What a fun technique the frame was. I got the idea from Splitcoast in their resource section. I'd give you the link but it seems to be down right now?

Color Challenge

Hey fellow crafters!
I hope those of you that were hit by the winter storm of 2011 are plowed out by now. We live 45 mins from downtown Chicago and we got hit hard!! School's been out for 3 days!! That's a record for around here. We ended up getting roughly 28" of snow. I hate to see things when this all starts to melt.

Well there's a new challenge over at CR84FN. The color challenge is to use Red, Turquoise, and Brown together. Tricky, tricky challenge for me. But that's what I luv about um'. They nudge me to get outside my comfort zone. Here is what I came up with.

I love distressing with ink. Can you see where I did it on the bow? How fun is that? Also adding white ink to the brown cardstock is another favorite technique of mine. So shab~a~licious!!

Valentine Jar

Hey guys!!

This cute little jar I made last night for my scrap club. We meet every month and usually do a grab bag. February's bag theme is chocolate!! So... I thought how cute would it be to fill a jar with chocolate?
